LIBRARY MATERIALS ACQUISITION
La Porte ISD values transparency, responsible stewardship, and community partnership. As part of our library materials selection and procurement process, titles recommended for purchase are posted publicly for 30 days so staff, students, families, and community members can review them and share feedback before purchase. This helps ensure our collections reflect our community's interests and values, support the curriculum, and encourage a love of reading.
Comments must be submitted through the district form (linked below). All comments received during the 30-day review period will be considered before purchases are finalized.
Titles are available at their listed level and all higher levels. For example, elementary titles are also available to middle school, junior high, and high school. Approval applies to all formats of a title (paperback, hardcover, ebook, audiobook, etc.).

Library Reconsideration
Any parent or guardian of a La Porte ISD student, District employee, or District resident may submit a written challenge to a library material. Challenges must be filed using the District's library material challenge form. The form requires the person submitting it to identify how the challenged library material violates the standards approved under Texas Education Code §33.021.
