Eight La Porte ISD Schools named 2027 U.S. News & World Report Best Schools

U.S. News & World Report, the global authority in education rankings, has listed six La Porte ISD elementary schools and the one middle school in its 2027 Best Schools rankings.
It is the fourth straight year for College Park, Heritage, La Porte, Lomax, Jennie Reid and Leo A. Rizzuto Elementary Schools to make the prestigious national list. James H. Baker Sixth Grade Campus is new to the U.S. News & World Report Best Middle Schools rankings.
La Porte High School was recognized in the 2026-2027 U.S. News & World Report’s national rankings in August.
The 2027 rankings are based on publicly available data from the U.S. Department of Education.
“This achievement reflects the shared commitment of our Board of Trustees, educators, students, and families to ensuring every child has the opportunity to succeed,” said La Porte ISD Superintendent Dr. Walter Jackson. “It speaks to our high academic standards, strength of our school community and our collective dedication to creating an environment where every student can learn, grow, and thrive. Together, we remain focused on providing an exceptional, high-quality education that empowers all students to reach their full potential and build a bright future.”
The rankings methodology focused on state assessments of students who were proficient or above proficient in mathematics and reading/language arts, while accounting for student background and achievement in core subjects. Student-teacher ratios are applied to break ties in the overall score.
