Keeping the Rhythm: Bulldog Percussionist Makes All-State Band

La Porte High School will once again be represented in the Texas Music Educators Association All-State Band, marking the school’s third appearance since 2015.
Junior percussionist Isaiah Macias earned a coveted spot in the prestigious ensemble after auditions held on Jan. 10. Macias advanced through a rigorous, multi-round selection process that began with more than 70,000 band students from across Texas.
Each year, the journey to All-State begins in July with the release of audition music. In December, students compete for All-Region Band placement, with top performers advancing to All-Area auditions, where final All-State members are selected.
“Making the All-State Band is a remarkable accomplishment,” said Head Band Director Jason Harvey. “Isaiah’s dedication, preparation, and musicianship truly set him apart, and we are proud of how he represented our program and school.”
The 2026 TMEA All-State Band will perform in February at the association’s annual clinic and convention in San Antonio, an event that attracts more than 30,000 music educators and students from across Texas and around the world.
