Ashley Campbell, a second-grade teacher at Jennie Reid Elementary School, has been honored as the 2025 Rookie Teacher of the Year. This prestigious award recognizes first-year educators who demonstrate exceptional dedication, leadership, and impact in the classroom.  

She learned the news on Tuesday morning when a group of campus and district administrators, including Superintendent Dr. Walter Jackson, surprised her with flowers and balloons.

Campbell began in La Porte ISD at Lomax Elementary School as a special education paraprofessional in 2021.  She joined Jennie Reid Elementary at the mid-point of this past school year as a classroom teacher.  

“In just her first year, she's shown remarkable dedication, creativity, and a true gift for connecting with students,” Jennie Reid Principal Stephanie Davis said. “Ms. Campbell is an inspiring addition to our school community.”  

Campbell will be formally recognized at the district’s Service Awards event on May 15.
