La Porte High School DECA students advance to State

Three La Porte High School DECA students have advanced to the Texas Career Development Conference after successful competitions at the 77th Texas DECA District 3 Career Development Conference at the Fort Bend County Epicenter in Rosenberg earlier in January.
Senior Kimberly Acosta and juniors Robert Mendez and teammate Nathanael Koslowski competed in Accounting Applications Series and Entrepreneurship Team Decision Making, respectively.
La Porte students were among 2,064 other competitors from schools in the counties: Aransas, Austin, Brazoria, Calhoun, Colorado, Fort Bend, Galveston, Jackson, Lavaca, Matagorda, Refugio, Victoria, Waller, Wharton and parts of Harris County. Our students' events included a test and a response to business problem, and role play with a judge.
The Texas Career Development Conference will be March 6-8 in Dallas. Our competitors will take their test Feb. 10 and continue to prepare for a case study role play and a possible finalist case study role play at this state competition with the goal of advancing to DECA IDC April 26-29 in Orlando, Florida.
