Safety and security would be upgraded across La Porte ISD under Proposition A of the 2023 Bond proposal.
LPISD System Administrator Brad Rogers demonstrates to the district's safety and security committee a silent panic alarm system, which would be installed districtwide under the proposed 2023 Bond.
Upgrades would include a districtwide silent panic alarm system, security-resistant entry film and perimeter fencing, among other enhancements.
"We are committed to providing a secure learning environment for our students and staff,” said Superintendent Dr. Walter Jackson. “This was also a top priority of our bond exploration committee.”
The silent panic system enhances the communication between staff, administration, and campus police in an event of a crisis. This system is wired and does not require cellular service.
Additional security enhancements being proposed in Proposition A include communication upgrades, controlled access to buildings and manual panic buttons.
Proposition A is among three La Porte ISD bond proposals on the May 6 election ballot. Early voting begins April 24 and runs through May 2.
