Eight La Porte High School Lady Dawg basketball players capped the 2022-23 season with All-District honors, including three players who were named to 18-5A’s First Team and one player who earned the district’s Most Valuable Player award. Ten players were additionally awarded Academic All-District honors. 


 

Keely Cummings, Chloe Paul and Kera Arrington garnered first team recognition, while Addisyn Parker was named as the 18-5A MVP. Makayla Bellot and Kaylee Mericle grabbed spots on the Second Team. 

Honorable Mention honors went to Sophia Rodriguez and Angelina Goynes.  

The 2022-23 varsity team won the Bi-District and Area playoff rounds by a combined 44 points. The Lady Dawgs bowed out of the playoffs in the Regional Quarterfinal to 10th ranked Fulshear, 53-39.   

“I knew, with the experience carried over from last year’s team success, that this season could be special,” said Elisha Thompson, head coach. “They worked extremely hard as a team and stayed focused on their goals, and their efforts turned out to be historical. I couldn’t be prouder of them.”

Assistant coaches for the Lady Dawgs are Connie Linday, Tonia Thomas and Miranda Thornton. The team managers are Kloe Stone and Bry’ana Moore. Ayla Ruffin and Emerson Gomez are the team trainers.
