La Porte ISD Superintendent Dr. Walter Jackson has been elected to serve on the Governing Board of AASA, The School Superintendent’s Association. He is one of three Texas representatives on the national board and will replace Kim Alexander, CEO of Collegiate Edu-Nation.
Dr. Jackson’s term will begin in July.
AASA is a professional community of more than 10,000 educational leaders. The association and its members are committed to providing high-quality public education to all students. Its Governing Board consists of 135 members.
“I am honored to have been nominated and elected to serve with other education administrators from across the country,” Dr. Jackson said. “AASA, The School Superintendents Association – as its mission statement says – advocates for equitable access for all students to the highest quality public education, and I look forward to helping advance that objective.”
The association develops and supports school system leaders through the national exchange of ideas; access to professional learning, publications, and resources; and opportunities to champion initiatives to help transform the future of public education.
Dr. Jackson also serves on the Texas Association of School Administrators Executive Committee, the Texas Association of School Boards Risk Management Fund Board of Directors and the University Interscholastic League Board of Directors, among several other statewide and local organizations.
