La Porte ISD on Dec. 15 received a check for $14,074—a rebate for purchases made over the past year from BuyBoard, a statewide purchasing cooperative of local governments, nonprofits and other state entities.
Similar to other cooperatives, BuyBoard leverages the purchasing power of more than 5,500-member organizations to provide discounted goods and services.
“LaPorte ISD has demonstrated fiscal responsibility by using the vendors on BuyBoard for many of their purchases,” said Vance Hamilton, a consultant with the cooperative. “As a result, the district has earned a considerable rebate, demonstrating a commitment to be good stewards of the taxpayers’ dollars.”
School districts utilize the cooperative for everything from HVAC equipment to classroom teaching supplies.
