La Porte ISD’s Strength and Conditioning program has been named a Program of Excellence by the National High School Strength Coaches Association, the association announced April 11.

The honor is bestowed upon NHSSCA member schools for operating at the highest level of professionalism. Particularly, La Porte ISD’s Strength and Conditioning program has displayed excellence in safety, quality, efficacy, outreach & highlighting.

The program, which is coached by Anne Alexander and Travis Janeway, has additionally displayed excellence in continuing education & technology usage, according to the NHSSCA.

“We are honored to be recognized at the national level,” said Athletic Director Elisha Thompson. “Coach Alexander and Coach Janeway put in a lot of time and effort to help ensure that the Strength and Conditioning program impacts our students in the most positive way, and this is a testament to those efforts.”

The NHSSCA will honor La Porte ISD in June at its national conference.
