La Porte ISD alumnus Danny Hanks was sworn in Tuesday as the newest member of the district’s Board of Trustees.

The Board on April 5 appointed Hanks to serve the unexpired term of the Position 2 Board seat. He fills the vacancy left by Kathy Green, who resigned in February. Hanks will serve in the position until the May 2023 elections.

“On behalf of the Board, we welcome Danny’s service to our district,” said Board President David Janda. “We look forward to working with him for the betterment of La Porte ISD.”

A 1997 graduate of La Porte High School, Hanks serves as the Senior Vice President of Operations for Gringo’s Tex-Mex family of restaurants, where he has worked for 25 years. He was born and raised in La Porte.

“We are thrilled to have Mr. Hanks joining our Team of Eight,” said Superintendent Dr. Walter Jackson.  “He has been a strong supporter of our district and the La Porte community, and I believe Danny will lead with honor, integrity, and a passionate resolve.”

Hanks is married to his high school sweetheart Dana. They have two children, Madisyn, who is a senior, and Kaylee, a freshman.
