Three La Porte High School art students have received honorable mention in the esteemed Scholastic Art & Writing Awards.

Senior Alyssa LeGrand and juniors Cash Lusk and Kandace Lynch won the award for pencil, digital art, and oil paint, respectively.

“This is a remarkable achievement,” said Christina Todaro, who teaches the three winners. “Their work was recognized by a panel of creative professionals as the most outstanding work submitted among their peers.”

The Scholastic awards program was established in 1923. The Harris County Department of Education serves as the regional sponsor of the program and hosts yearly judging and awards ceremonies for thousands of writing and art entries submitted by Harris County teens.
