Two La Porte FFA students have qualified to compete at the State Leadership Development Event after placing first in their respective Area events on Nov. 14. at the Berry Center in Cypress.

 

Melanie Raymundo took top honors in the Spanish Creed event at the Area 3 Leadership Development Event; Sophia Guajardo Salinas qualified by placing first in Greenhand Spanish Creed, a competition for students in grades 7-9.  

In the competition, members cite the FFA creed in Spanish from memory and answer questions about its meaning and purpose. Students are judged on accuracy, time and delivery.  

The State Leadership Development event is set for Dec. 2 at Sam Houston State University. Both girls will be competing at the Sam Houston State University Texas Leader Development Event on Dec. 2.   

La Porte FFA advisors are Carrie Hicks, Erika Espitia and Deanna Morris.
