A new principal has been named to James H. Baker Sixth Grade Campus, and three other administrators have been appointed as associate and assistant principals, respectively.

 

Mr. Lucio Rodriguez, Principal of James H. Baker Sixth Grade Campus (replacing Dr. Alicia Upchurch, who has been promoted to executive director of elementary education)  Mr. Lucio Rodriguez has been selected to serve as the principal of James H. Baker Sixth Grade Campus for the 2022-2023 school year. Mr. Rodriguez joins us from Houston ISD where he serves as the assistant principal of Navarro Middle School. Prior to this role, he served as principal, assistant principal, curriculum writer, science department head and math lead teacher at Houston Gateway Academy Charter school. Mr. Rodriguez earned a Bachelor of Science from the University of Houston and a master’s degree in educational leadership from Lamar University. Please join us in welcoming Mr. Rodriguez to La Porte ISD! He is excited to join our team. 

  

Ms. Stephany Brown, Associate Principal of Lomax Junior High (replacing Dr. Romulo Crespo, who has accepted a job in Ft. Bend ISD)  Ms. Stephany Brown has been selected to serve in the role of associate principal of Lomax Junior High. Ms. Brown currently serves as the assistant principal at Lomax Junior High. Previous to this role, Ms. Brown served as an assistant principal in Texas City ISD. Ms. Brown has served as an educator for 17 years. She holds a bachelor’s degree from Stephen F. Austin State University and a master’s degree from Lamar University. We are confident Ms. Brown will continue building upon the relationships she has established with the students, staff and families of Lomax Junior High as she serves in her new role. 

  

Mr. Justin Myers, Assistant Principal of Lomax Junior High (replacing Stephany Brown, who has been promoted to Associate Principal at Lomax Junior High)  Mr. Justin Myers has been selected to serve as assistant principal at Lomax Junior High for the 2022-2023 school year. Mr. Myers has served as an educator in La Porte ISD for 22 years. He currently serves as the special education department head, GT lead teacher and SAIL program instructor at La Porte High School. Previously, Mr. Myers served as an English resource teacher, life skills/FOCUS teacher, PASS/BSP instructor, DAEP instructor, and paraprofessional in La Porte ISD. Mr. Myers is a member of the La Porte ISD Aspiring Leadership Academy, Cohort 1. He earned his Bachelor of Arts in Literature at Lamar University and a master’s degree in educational administration from Lamar University. We are looking forward to Justin serving in this new role. Because of the various roles in which he has served our students, we are confident he will bring a wonderful perspective to the Lomax Junior High leadership team. 

  

Ms. Kendra Persohn, Assistant Principal of La Porte Elementary (replacing Karen Lawley, who has been promoted to Principal at La Porte Elementary)  Ms. Kendra Persohn has been selected to serve as the assistant principal of La Porte Elementary for the 2022-2023 school year. Ms. Persohn comes to us with many years of successful leadership experience. She currently serves as the director of curriculum, instruction and assessment at Odyssey Academy. Prior to this role, she served as the superintendent, principal, special education coordinator, assistant principal, dyslexia teacher and classroom teacher at Bay Area Charter School. Ms. Persohn earned her Bachelor of Arts degree from Oklahoma State University and her Master of Science in Early Childhood Education from the University of Houston-Clear Lake. We are excited to welcome Ms. Persohn to La Porte ISD. We are confident that she will work closely with Ms. Lawley to support our students and staff at La Porte Elementary.
