Karen Lawley has been selected to lead La Porte Elementary School as its new principal, and Dr. William Rhodes has been named as the new director of human resources.
Karen Lawley, La Porte Elementary School Principal
Lawley has served as assistant principal at La Porte Elementary for the past four years, during which time she was also instrumental in helping the campus transition to new leadership following the retirement of a longtime principal. Lawley comes to the position with 22 years of education experience. Prior to her assistant principal role, she supported students in La Porte ISD as a special education teacher at La Porte Elementary and as a general education teacher at Bayshore Elementary. Lawley holds a Bachelor of Arts in Interdisciplinary Studies from the University of Houston – Clear Lake, a Master of Education in Educational Leadership from Lamar University, and an additional Master of Education degree in Special Education from the University of St. Thomas.
