Realignment is initially tentative, as schools may appeal their assignments. Districts are finalized on February 24, after all possible appeals are heard.
UIL realignments and reclassifications take place every other year and are in effect for two school years. This means La Porte will be a member of 8-5A and 18-5A at least through the 2023-24 school year.
The UIL in December released statewide classification numbers, which resulted in La Porte’s classification as a 5A school. The classifications are based on UIL Snapshot Day enrollment figures from Oct. 29, 2021.
The remaining athletic district alignments will be released later in the spring.
