Filing requirements for School Board Trustee according to Election Code Section 141.001 are that a person must: be a US citizen; be at least 18 years of age; have not been determined by a final judgment of a court exercising probate jurisdiction to be totally mentally incapacitated or partially mentally incapacitated without the right to vote; have not been finally convicted of a felony from which the person has not been pardoned or otherwise released from the resulting disabilities; have resided in the State of Texas for one (1) year and in the school district for six (6) months prior to the filing deadline; be a registered voter in the territory elected by the filing deadline. Qualifications for a Board Position
Candidates for the Board of Trustees must:
- Be a qualified and registered voter of the territory elected from as of the filing deadline;
- Reside in the school district for a minimum of six months prior to the filing deadline; and
- Be a resident of the state for a minimum of twelve months prior to the deadline.
