Seems like déjà vu: Bulldogs to remain in 21-6A, face some former opponents

The University Interscholastic League on Feb. 1 released realignment data for Texas high school athletics programs. Pending any appeals, the new districts will be effective for the 2018-19 and 2019-20 school years.

About the only things that will remain the same for La Porte as the current alignment are the district number (21-6A) and Deer Park, which will continue to reside with La Porte in the same district. Back on the schedule will be Baytown Sterling, Beaumont West Brook, Channelview and Galena Park North shore – schools that La Porte and Deer Park shared a district with during the 2014-15 and 2015-16 school years. This biennial alignment will also feature C.E. King High School of Sheldon ISD.

Everything will be new hat for a yet-to-be-named Beaumont ISD high school, which is set to open in August as a result of combining two existing 5A high schools, Central and Ozen.

The new 21-6A alignment covers football, basketball and volleyball. Though other sports tend to fall into the same alignment, there could be differences in districts. Schools may appeal district placement for certain sports, and not all school districts field teams for every sport.
