The TASBO Award of Merit for Purchasing and Operations is presented to school districts and Education Service Centers statewide that are committed to following professional standards in the acquisition of goods and services. In determining the designees, TASBO reviewed various procedures and practices including organization, policies and procedures, contract operations, staff training and certification, use of technology, communication and management of cooperative programs, and where applicable, use of p-card systems and warehousing. Each application was considered by a team of reviewers.
The top three submissions by small and large districts were then reviewed by two additional evaluators to determine the top submission in each category. La Porte ISD was selected for the highest award in the small group category, earning the Elite Status level. Small districts are those that have three or fewer full-time employees in the purchasing division.
Only 29 districts and Education Service Centers statewide earned the TASBO Award of Merit for Purchasing and Operations last year. La Porte ISD will be presented with these awards at the TASBO 71st Annual Conference in Austin on Feb. 28, 2017.
