Tayler and Terrel were crowned by LPHS principal Todd Schoppe and 2015 Homecoming Queen Zoe Garner. Tommy Freeman, last year’s King, is in military service and was unable to attend the event.
This year’s queen candidates also included Viara Brightmon, Kourtney Flood, Maya Hall, Triniti Kendzior, Melinee Mahoney, Savannah Rose and Kendal Zemanek. King candidates were Savon Bright, Kevrin Busby, Jonathan Flores, Jordan Land, Damien Phillips, Soul Schillaci and Sam Wilson.
Between the first and second quarters, La Porte High School 2003 graduate and Olympic gold medalist Kerron Clement was honored with a standing ovation by the fans. Clement was escorted onto the field by Schoppe and Mike Mosely, his former track coach at La Porte High School.
The Mighty Bulldog Marching Band and the Chatos performed following the game. In observance of the 100th anniversary, the Chatos wore an assortment of uniforms from throughout La Porte ISD history during their “Flashback Friday” performance.
