In today’s heightened security awareness in schools, La Porte ISD is introducing two new safety communication tools in the district this fall. The Anonymous Alerts incident reporting application for students and the employee based Smart Button instant panic button application.
The Anonymous Alerts system empowers students, parents, and community members to submit critical concerns related to incidents such as bullying, cyberbullying, drugs/alcohol, fighting, weapons on campus and other important or time-sensitive concerns directly to school administrators. If a student ‘Sees Something, they can Do Something’ by quickly reporting their concern directly to school administrators. Report submitters will have the ability to converse back-and-forth with school administrators through their anonymous 2-way communications tools.
Employees of La Porte ISD can now take advantage of a new tool called the Smart Button, which is an instant panic button application located on their mobile devices and/or computers. The Smart Button helps to shorten response times to a crisis in comparison to traditional 9-1-1 methods. The technology works as an emergency alert mechanism and a 2-way communications system in crisis situations. When activated by an employee, the Smart Button® can connect triage team(s) and/or law enforcement in real-time. It can be used in the event of an active shooter, medical condition, fire, chemical spill/hazard, or weather emergency situation.
Students, parents, and staff members can download the Anonymous Alerts app for free and gain access to the system by using a simple activation code that will be provided by the district. The mobile app is available on Apple and Android and even includes a help and resources section that contains links to various informational websites and videos.Or, click below to file a report from any device connected to the Internet.
