Schoppe wins Adidas Dream Mile

Schoppe ran the mile in 4:09.2 – owning the lead from start to finish – and finished more than three seconds ahead of the second-place runner, North Carolina’s 2019 1,600-meter run state champion.

The win capped off a busy spring during which Schoppe won his second straight UIL state championship in the 3,200-meter run, and grabbed silver in the state 1,600-meter run with the nation’s fifth-fastest time for 2019.

“We are all proud of Ryan,” said Zach Johnson, La Porte High School head track coach. “It hasn’t been easy training for the month [after] the state meet. “He has had to do a lot of work on his own.”

Among additional accolades, Schoppe was recently named among VYPE Houston's Top 10 Male Athletes of the Year; Mayor Louis Rigby also proclaimed June 10 as Ryan Schoppe Day in honor of his successes.
