La Porte Independent School District
Software Copyright Policy

It is the intent of La Porte Independent School District to adhere to all provisions of the copyright laws and any license agreements which are pertinent. District employees are expected to adhere to all provisions of the copyright laws and license agreements.

License agreements vary from publisher to publisher and from individual product to product. In general, software products are licensed to be used on one computer at a time. In order to use a single copy of a program on more than one computer at a time, you must have specific permission in the license agreement. Also, more than one computer may not use a program over a computer network unless this is permitted by the license agreement. If there is no license agreement, employees are permitted to make a single backup copy of programs for archival purposes.

Copies of software that violate license agreements or copyright laws may not be made or used on school computers.

The Principal of each school is designated to sign and enter into building site license agreements. The Superintendent or his designee will sign or enter into district site license agreements.
