Philosophy

The District's dress code is established to teach hygiene, instill discipline, prevent disruption, avoid safety hazards and teach respect for authority and property. All students are required to follow the District student dress code for school attendance and for attendance at school-sponsored activities. Exceptions to the dress code for special events, medical or religious requirements will be considered on an individual basis. Students not dressed according to this dress code will be required to change clothing, will be warned about their clothing, or will be removed to an alternate setting for the remainder of the day. Disciplinary consequences may result.

All La Porte ISD Elementary Schools participate in a standardized dress code. Students are expected to comply with the code everyday. Parents will be contacted if a student is in violation of the dress code and/or grooming standards. Failure to comply with the dress code is in violation of LPISD student code of conduct and appropriate discipline procedures will apply.

The principal, principal’s designee, or other administrators shall have the final authority to determine the suitability of student dress.

The LPISD General Dress Code General Guidelines

1. Hair shall be clean, neatly groomed, and non-distracting.

2. Pierced jewelry is to be worn in the ears only.
