~*Ecord's Effigy*~

I have taught at La Porte High School since January 1993 after graduating from Texas A&M in December 1992 with a bachelor's degree in Wildlife & Fisheries Sciences. I truly believe I have found my calling as a teacher and look forward to coming to class every day to work with students.

One of my favorite quotes is by ecologist, Baba Dioum:

"ln the end we will conserve only what we love. We love only what we understand. We will understand only what we are taught."

I use this philosophy in my teaching. I believe if I can share my love and understanding of science with my students; they too will begin to understand the importance of science and its role in their lives and the world around them. By understanding the world around them, they can develop into successful, thoughtful, contributing members of society. There is no end to what they may achieve.

And now . . . . just a little information about me! Who is this person teaching you or your student? I can't let out ALL my secrets, but I will share some of my favorite things with you.

If you have already attended my class you know I LOVE animals! I have many pets in the classroom for my students to play with (just visit the "Classroom Animals" page). I believe early experience with animals helps children develop an appreciation for other living creatures and they learn to respect and care for them. Pets take a lot of care and attention, so I only have two at home. Below you will see pictures of my personal pets. I love and adore both, but I must admit I am the most fond of my Golden Retriever, Morgan. She is my pride and joy and she travels just about everywhere with me - she's obedience trained and minds very well, so I know I can trust her around other people and animals. In fact, the only thing that isn't safe around Morgan is a tennis ball! Morgan used to come to school with me and spent a lot of time with my students, but four years was enough (I like to say she graduated!).

Here are a few more pictures of Morgan from our travels together. . .

In my free time (weekends and summers) I enjoy the following activities: traveling, camping, hiking (just about anything to do with the outdoors), reading, volunteering at student camps (sea camp is my favorite), yard work (yes, really) and just relaxing with my family and friends.

Kindall also has some hobbies . . .

Cycling . . .
Horseback Riding . . .
and Bird Watching!
