The ACES (Mike McPhail for LPHS teachers) will be offering incentives for instructors interested in taking the Intel "Teach to the Future" training during the summer. Dates will be July 12 - 16. Any interested teacher will gain a tremendous insight into incorporating technology into the usual curriculum within your classroom. In addition, you will receive 20 hours of both curricular and technology credit. You will also be issued a Palm Zire 70 and a 128 mb flash drive. The course requires 40 hours of training time and will be done on regular intervals. Approximately 100 teachers, throughout the district, will be trained using this system of integration tools and techniques. Each ACES will be required to train 10 instructors. Your trainer may be any one of the 11 ACES.
The High School Staff members now have permission to use the web-based portion of IGPRO. You may do your grade books from any Internet connection. However, you MUST close the grade book and log off the IGPRO web interface BEFORE closing your browser out. If you don't follow this procedure, it may lock out your grade book and you may not be able to save your changes.
Anyone not sure about their 12 hours of technology staff development should contact Mike McPhail as soon as possible. You must complete your prescribed 12 hours of hands-on technology staff development. Preview the PDP to find a course, offered at LPISD, that you would like to register for.
Please bring your laptops to the Lecture Hall on one of these dates: May 18, 19 or morning of 20. Summer overhaul procedures will be done. MIS will ensure that SMS is uninstalled, Sophos updates can occur from your home service, the bar code sticker is present, Windows updates are installed and the computer has the correct name.
