Hello, it is with GREAT Excitement that I announce our DECA District Winners from this past Saturday. Elizabeth Elkins placed in Restaurant Management, Alex Cantu in Business Finance and Hector Diaz placed in Principles of Business Administration. There were over 1,300 students in attendance from various school districts. These students will attend their State DECA Career Development Competition in San Antonio the last week in February. Please join me in congratulating these students for their accomplishments. In closing, thank you to the following CTE Teachers: Daniel Seibert, Hope Salas, Kenda Adkins and Chad Pruitt for serving as a test proctor and/or practice judges in preparation for our District Competitive Events. Jordan Kleinjan 11th grader was awarded Nationally Certified Insurance Billing Specialist certification.

La Porte High School culinary arts students compete in recipe contest Five teams of La Porte High School culinary arts students competed in the 2016 La Porte ISD School Nutrition Department Recipe Competition on April 13. Students developed their recipes and cooked their meals for a team of judges, including LPISD representatives and chefs from area restaurants. The winning recipe was prepared and served in the LPHS cafeteria on April 27 and May 10 and will also be served to the Board of Trustees at the May 10 meeting.
The students are under the direction of LPHS culinary arts
Congratulation's to Kayla Walker and Gerald Hubbard won the 2016 Recipe Competition sponsored by La Porte ISD School Nutrition. The winning recipe was Chicken Parm Pizza which will be featured May 10th.

Barbara James Service Gold Award receipts: Minerva Hernandez with over 450 health related community service hours
Barbara James Service Bronze Award receipts: with over 125 health related community service hours were- Karlie Richards, Kelsey Ramirez, Amanda Hernandez, Elyssa Molina and Courtney Williams
Taylor Rabel and Kimberli Garcia were recognized with a Certificate of Recognition for their achievements with the HOSA National Service Project
Kallie Juel was in the top 2% in State and competed in the Biomedical Laboratory Science event
Karlie Richards also competed in the chapter HOSA Happening events
Rhett Cook competed in Healthcare Issues placing in the top 10% State wide qualifying for the National Conference
And Amanda Hernandez brought back a Gold level in the Chapter Reflextion event also qualifying for Nationals in her event.
Congratulation to all that competed and Good Luck at the National Conference in Tennessee this June.
