"I am extremely proud of our students and the amount of dedication and time they have put into learning this music, said Bryan Sutherland, La Porte High School’s director of choral activities. “The music that our students auditioned on is at the collegiate/professional level.”
Sutherland added that his students spent several months – working before and after school – to help them prepare. The ultimate goal is to be named to the All-State Choir, and All-Region is the first step, followed by Pre-Area, then All-Area.
Region auditions took place at Goose Creek Memorial High School on Nov. 6, with more than 800 students vying for a spot. Pre-Area auditions happen on Nov. 30 at Baytown Sterling High School.
The (Nov. 11) Region 19 Choir Concert is set for 4:30 p.m. at the Deer Park High School South Campus Performing Arts Center.
